Welcome to Victory Christian Centre Rugeley, a vibrant church founded in 1993, in the heart of the country. Victory brings a message of hope, joy, love, peace, kindness and many other qualities which are found in a relationship with Jesus Christ. This message is for our community, the surrounding area, our nation and also the nations of the world.
Local History
Rugeley or RUGELEI was established as one of the 7 divisions or "hays" of an ancient forest and was owned and used for hunting by the Earls of Mercia and the Plantagenet Kings.
The name derives from the Anglo Saxon "rugge" a ridge or chain of hills and a "icy" a woodland, meaning and describing it well at the time as hilly woodland. Up until the end of the 19th century it was known as "RUDGLEY" and many locals still call it that today.

As recently as March 1992, the remains of the 15th century Wolseley Glass Works was discovered during quarrying activity some two miles from the town on the Chase. It was in this medieval glass works that some of the world's finest examples of stained glass were produced for the windows of York Minster in 1417. The site has been excavated and artefacts removed to the National Glass Museum at Dudley.
During the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries Rugeley developed as a thriving market town holding internationally famous horse fairs and developed a strong industrial base: The blast furnaces and the slitting mills of the surrounding area played a major role in the industrial development of the West Midlands.
