From a Spark to a Flame
24th-27th February 2011
Held in Carlisle, UK
Thursday 24th
We arrived, set up, ate pizza for dinner, and had an evening meeting with another church youth group from the city. A great time was had by all with a team from both groups participating in worship. Then Pastor Chris gave a word from Hebrews 12:1 about us as young people not running alone. The meeting was closed by a youth leader from another group, Chris Moss. Afterwards we played games and had some fellowship time.
Friday 25th
After breakfast, Julie Beckett led a study group on Joseph for most of the morning with breaks and a video on Joseph. In the afternoon, the youth had free time and planned Saturday. The Leeds crew arrived at dinner time. The evening meeting was lead by a group from Leeds and Carlisle with the Holy Spirit ministering to all. Simon Crowe gave the word on Zephaniah 3:17. We watched a film, The Miracle, with lots of popcorn and hot chocolate.
Saturday 26th
After breakfast, Julie Beckett led a Bible study on Gideon and did preparation for the afternoon outreach to the people at Elizabeth Welsh Retirement Home. The afternoon was spent singing and speaking to the old folks. We returned to the church for free time and later tea. At 8:00 p.m. The evening meeting started and was awesome all the way through. We started with worship planning to have a word from one of the leaders. However, during that time the Holy Spirit fell in the room “as a waterfall” and ministered to us, taking all of us deeper in Him. One young man, Cameron, gave his heart to the Lord after seeing the glory love and joy of the Lord throughout the evening. Praise God!!!!!!
The time that the Lord ministered to us continued for some hours through till around 12:30am with words of prophecy and ministry through the Holy Spirit. A friend of Pastor Chris' , Mark, came for the evening and was greatly used by the Lord. After God finished what He had planned for the evening we had a supper of pizza popcorn and hot chocolate and watched a video whilst some prepared for the Sunday morning meeting. We all eventually went for some rest with lights out at 2.30 a.m. What a day!
Sunday 27th
We were all up early for breakfast. We cleared up and reset the church for the Sunday service. Then all the young people took part in the pre-service prayer meeting and morning service. They did dramas, ministered through singing, and preached the Word of God. After fellowship with the rest of the church, the youth had lunch and spent some time together in prayer before departing to our own homes.
Overall the weekend was truly spark to a flame! God did many mighty works and revealed Himself to us all in totally new ways!
